One Outside Example and Four Ideas to Try

The historical example is labelled with its source and product. The other cards are editorial suggestions, not verified users, viral cases or measured audience demand.

The Exes Edition

Historical example
External BrantSteele example · reported March 18, 2022

PopCrush reported that TikTok creator NevelKnievel used a Hunger Games simulator with friends and exes. The article links to BrantSteele, not this site.

This is evidence of a format used with another simulator. It does not establish usage, results or popularity for hungergamesimulator.org.

Friends & Roommates

Idea to try
Editorial suggestion

Use a consenting friend group or a fictional roommate cast and read the events together.

Names your group recognizes can make the story easier to follow. No engagement outcome is promised.

Book Club / Classroom

Idea to try
Editorial suggestion

Choose fictional characters from a shared reading list and discuss how chance changes their story.

This is a proposed activity, not a verified classroom case for this site. Follow the site age guidance and the needs of your group.

Presentation Night

Idea to try
Editorial suggestion

Present a fictional or permission-based cast on a shared screen. Pause between rounds for predictions.

A downloaded recap can be added to your slides. The simulator does not create a slide presentation for you.

Twitch / YouTube Live

Idea to try
Editorial suggestion

Invite viewers to opt in, copy their names into Custom Mode, and share your screen while the game runs.

This site has no automatic chat integration. This is a suggested workflow, not evidence of adoption by streamers.

The 6-Step Tutorial

Paste your names together, review the character cards, then add optional portraits and settings before starting.

  1. 1

    Open the simulator

Go to hungergamesimulator.org/custom. The page loads instantly — no signup, no account, no download. Works on desktop and mobile browsers.

For the speed run: bookmark this page once. You will reopen it.
  2. 2

    Paste your cast (bulk)

Enter 8–48 names in Build your cast, one per line or separated by commas. Review the name changes, then apply them to create the character cards.

Pulling chat names from a Twitch stream? Use the chat-export feature in your stream software or copy-paste from the chat box directly.
  3. 3

Add photos (optional but worth it)

Each tribute can have a custom avatar — upload a photo or paste an image URL. The avatars carry through every event, the winner poster, and the share image. This is the difference between a simulation and a sleepover anecdote.

Worried about privacy? Use group-chat selfies you already have permission for, or generic avatars from Dicebear.
  4. 4

    Optionally enable District Mode

Optionally enable District Mode. Bonuses use the districts assigned in your cast: District 2 adds Strength, District 3 Intelligence, District 11 Survival. It does not guarantee a winner.

  5. 5

    Run it

Select Start free game, then use Next Day to advance from the bloodbath through the run. Read at your own pace. The match itself is not saved when you refresh or leave.

For a group of 4+ people, project on a TV or share-screen on a call. The pacing is built for spectators.
  6. 6

    Share the Winner

When one tribute remains, the simulator generates a Winner Poster with their avatar, name, district, and the most dramatic events from their run. Download the PNG, share to your group chat or socials.

You can use the downloaded poster in your own recap. This is a suggestion, not a claim about creator usage.
Section 03

What Actually Makes a Good Run

These are practical suggestions for a group session, not findings from a measured sample of creators.

Photos are optional. Use pictures your group has permission to share if they help people follow the cast; names alone are enough to play.

Read events aloud or share your screen if that suits your group. Pause between rounds for reactions rather than assuming everyone reads at the same speed.

Start with a cast your group recognizes. There is no verified formula here for getting more views, likes or shares.

Section 04

For Twitch / YouTube Streamers

You can manually copy opted-in viewer names into this site and share the run on screen. We have not verified streamer adoption or measured setup time, and this site has no automatic chat sync.

1

Pull viewer names from chat

Invite viewers to opt in, then copy their names into Build your cast on /custom. This site does not automatically read your stream chat.

2

Use chat overlay tools alongside

Run a transparent Twitch chat overlay (e.g., baffler/Transparent-Twitch-Chat-Overlay on GitHub, or StreamElements / Streamlabs Chat Box) so viewers see their messages and their tribute fate side by side.

3

Set 24 or 48 tributes by audience size

Choose 8–48 participants who opted in. Pick a cast size you can follow comfortably; there is no verified audience-size formula.

4

Read events on-stream, not pre-rendered

Read each event aloud if that suits your group, and pause so viewers can react before you advance.

FAQ

How do I add my friends as tributes in the Hunger Games Simulator?

+

Open /custom, enter 8–48 names in Build your cast, then review and apply the names. Use one name per line or commas. You can start with names alone.

Can I use photos or custom avatars for each tribute?

+

Yes. Add local images or public image URLs. Photos are optional. Use images you have permission to share.

How many tributes can the simulator handle?

+

Custom Mode supports 8–48 tributes. Quick Play offers 12, 18 or 24 characters in a mixed-era fan cast. The separate Sunrise preset uses a 48-tribute roster; an arbitrary 48-person custom cast is not a canonical roster.

Is the Hunger Games Simulator free?

+

The core simulator is free without signup. Creator Pass remains an optional paid upgrade.

Can I save and share the results with my friends?

+

Download a winner PNG or recap GIF, or take a screenshot before leaving. These files preserve a recap, not a playable match. Share links open the simulator, not a saved result. Custom roster and settings are saved in this browser; ongoing matches and result history are not. Creator Pass adds HD no-watermark GIF exports.

How is this different from BrantSteele?

+

Our Custom Mode supports pasted names and local photo batches. BrantSteele Classic also provides Edit Cast and Import & Export; its inspected Basic Edit form uses image URLs. See the dated comparison on /brantsteele-alternative for sources and verification limits.

Can I use this for a Twitch or YouTube stream?

+

You can share your screen and manually add names from viewers who opt in. There is no automatic chat integration on this site. We do not have verified streamer adoption cases to cite.

Is it appropriate for younger kids?

+

The site guidance is 13 or older; younger users require parental permission. Events describe fictional violence. Consider the content and your group before using it.
